This is a new variant of virus ,autoid.d, that spreads thru messenger, u just have to click on the link and the rest is taken care of by the virus!

First u need to go to internet options and change the homepage to any other page u like! as u said that u've done that, then u need to download f-secure antivirus software.

(u have an option of free 30 day trial)

don't forget to download the latest virus definitions file, as u will not find the virus with old files..

scan the sys with the antivirus , remove the ****!!!!

U shall visit the link shown by r35p3kt , it has much info..

Then again u need to visit the good ol registry, use regedit, and be careful

u need to remove the registry entry

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Micr... Explorer\Main\Window Title

u can set it to any string u like or simply delete it

Help me with my IE, Think it's infected with a "virus"!!!!?microsoft net internet explorer

Uninstall IE and reload it after scanning yr computer
Get adware and spyware scanners

www.download.com go to security section and find a free one
it's just a pre-set starting page for your IE, not virus.

follow the instruction from the 1st answer....or, download firefox and use it as your main browser ;-)
It is called a hijacker spyware... Even you change your homepage back it would still re-appear. Hijacker spywares are kinda irritating to remove but still better visit this site to remove it.

http://www.download.com then at the search box type "spysweeper".
start -%26gt; run -%26gt; type "%temp%" if using XP, Ok and delete all files .. note the .jpg files or .ico files that wont go.. bust them out somehow.
www.safer-networking.net

download spybot SD, its free and kicks ***.

update it and do a scan. chances are it will find something.

it also includes a ie tweaks tool, your default page might have been changed.
Same as above...

Only clear your cookies, temp files and run your spyware.

Oh, yeah...one more thing:

STOP USING INTERNET EXPLORER!

Sheesh...I bet you still surf as an Administrator, too.
first try this:

go to Tools meanu %26gt;%26gt; Internet options%26gt;%26gt; then set the homepage to "about:blank" then ur problem might get solved

if it still shows up then:

ur PC is infected with spyware/adwares so go to www.download.com and download

"SpyBot Search %26amp; Destroy"

or

"AdAware"

download whichever u like as both of them are free

then install it and scan your computer for syp/ad wares and then ur problem will be solved.
A fake geocities account, Nice...Open Internet explorer, Go to the Tools menu at the top, Click on Inernet Options, On your homepage, type in http://yahoo.com/ , Then hit Delete Cookies, Then Delete Temp Files and Clear History. Go to the Content Tab, Click on Auto Complete, Clear Forms, Clear Passwords
here is alist of free scans.

Do you have the Yahoo toolbar? If yes, run the Yahoo Anti-Spy(yellow coloured target shaped button).
Hey! It's a virus! I got the same link and others with geocities from friends that opened them; now everytime they open yahoo messenger these links are send to all the persons in their yahoo messenger. I didn't open the links. It seems that Norton Antivirus is the only antivirus that can remove this stupid virus. Good luck!
hi, try a more secure browser.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Best Wishes %26amp;%26amp; Good Luck!
One of the best anti-spyware programs you can get is free! Go to:

http://www.download.com

and look for Spybot Search and Destroy:

http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-De...

It's free, it's easy to use and it works.

Also, use a more secure browser that doesn't all ow ActiveX controls to be downloaded. DUmp IE and switch to Firefox:

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
Install the firefox web browser. During Installations if it ask u to make Firefox to be the main web browser click yes. It will solve ur problem. U can download it from the site

www.download-easy.blogspot.com for free and that too it is combined with the Google toolbar.

After downloading the Firefox and installing it . Type msconfig in the Run command. Check the processes running at the startup of the system. Uncheck the option u thing related to the websites Home page. only if u got the Idea.

Best of Luck.

later i will translate the page, maybe :)
I got a similar problem too... but.. it's a different link.. anyways.. what you will do is, uninstall internet explorer... then.. go to the explorer folder, if there's a virus, which I think there is, there should still be some piece of craps in that folder even though you've uninstalled it.. Delete those craps.. if it says, access is denied, which I guess they will say.... log in to safe mode, then delete it there.. anyways, dont forget to click, show hidden files/folders...

here are some things to know if you have a virus..

First, you may think you have a virus, but how do you really tell? Viruses often cause erratic behavior, smiley faces may pop up, your screen may disappear, or your computer may crash. The trigger that activates the virus can be almost anything. For instance, the virus can be activated the minute it is installed. Or it may start its dirty work the next time you start your computer. In many cases, a virus can reside inside your computer in an inactive state, waiting for a certain event (like a certain date) to happen.

From the moment the virus infiltrated your computer to the time that it made itself known to you, you could have innocently spread the virus to others. A very disconcerting sign that you have a virus is when friends call or e-mail to let you know you have sent them a virus-infested e-mail. It can also be transfered via IM's and Peer to Peer's like limewire, Bearshare and Kazaa... SO beware!!!

Now... If you notice any of this CRAPS (lol) in your system.. The first thing you gotta do is STAY CALM.. lol... because people tend to panic when they notice something like viruses... Thats what I did sometime in the best and I deleted some of my system32 thinking the virus is there... and KABOOM!!! I cant start my pc anymore...LOL!!!!

What you gota do is, download an antivirus... My personal reccomendation is AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/... Because unlike Norton and PCcillin or Mcaffee.. It's not resource hungry.. It's simple.. lol...

another recommendation is zonealarm.. but... It cost like 50$ for the fulll version... but you can email me for a serial (LOL!!).. anyways...

other programs are:

Anti Vir www.free-av.com

Panda anti virus www.pandasoftware.com

Avast! www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home...

My etrust antivirus.cai.com

clam win anti virus www.clamwin.com

and Last but not the least.. KAPERSKY... ( I dont actaully know if it's free or something.. But because it's not that popular, There's less hacks for that program...)

But.. if you dont want any programs.... Try just to scan first...

housecall.antivirus.com

or jsut use free mcaffee virus scan...

but.. remember,, better be safe than sorry!!LOL!!

anyways...

They say only use one anti virus program... I say not... Because... base on my experience... There was this virus that got scanned by Avast but not by AVG.. Well thats just my opinion...

Now... sometimes... your anti virus says they have scanned something.. But cant delete it... what your gonna do is, google the virus name.. then there should be some step by step instructions in some forum... Try that... lol...

anyways... last but not the least but the most annoying and irritating and pissing (lol)

If you still cant delete it.. the last way is to reformat your PC... that sucks I know.. but... It'll surely kill the viruses.. and your files.. LOL!!

And ya... before I forget...

Sometimes... viruses seem to restrict you from accessing the net.. sometimes... it kills your connection or something... now great.. you cant download softwares.. what you gotta do is go to a clean PC.. then download the latest installer from there... now... burn it to a cd or something... then load it to your pc... it shall work... lol

now good luck with you!!!!
