How do I fix (ie-make it work)a bathroom fan?

It is only 8 years old, so I don't think it's actually broken....but it needs to run again.

Always start with your basics. Buy a cheap electrical tester ( the type with two prongs that light up a 120/240 volt bulb, about $3 at any hardware store). Test your switch to see if power is coming in and then going out. If that is good, test the connections at the fan motor itself. If power is evident all the way to the motor, then the motor is bad and you replace it. I hope this helps.

well is the power go to it?

if the motor is dead well you replace the motor or the fan depend of the cost
more info we need does it make any noise at all is it the motor.check for loose wirering up there make sure you turn of the fuse before messing around up there why dont you just call a service man let him fix it if you don't know what you are doing.
fan motors are very simple. they are designed to run a long time. oil any places on the housing that indicate "oil"...they may be small holes. plug it in and try it out. if it does not work, the problem is most likely in the switch....there also may be a wire off. look for any loose or broken wire. if you cannot repair it, just replace it
8 year is a long time. Did you clean it and lub the fan shaft
