I have vista and IE version 7.0.6 and at the top right corner where I usually have my yahoo search..

there is a " new google search" but when I type in my search query it takes me to "google" but the site is actually searchgateway.net, there isnt an option to remove this search, help.

It sounds like your computer is infected with spyware, trojan or antivirus because your search bar has been hijacked. My guess is that your registry has been changed to alter the searchbar.

If you have the programs, run antivirus, antispyware, and antitrojan. Try Windows Defender and whatever security programs came pre-installed with your computer.

If you don't have these, you can get them free at downloads.com. I recommend, free AVG anti-spyware, 30 day trial with Counterspy, and a 30 day trial with Kaspersky (antivirus). If you don't want to do the trials, then try ad-aware, spybot search and destroy and AVG anti-virus free edition.

There is a blue magnifiying glass icon to the right of the search text box... click on the pull-down menu next to it %26amp; select "Yahoo! Search."

It sounds like IE7 is defaulted to this SearchGateway engine. To change the default go to that same pull-down menu I mentioned above %26amp; select "Change Search Defaults..." and set Yahoo as your default.

If that doesn't work, it sounds like you've got some weird pluggin that mucks around with your settings... Hopefully that's not the case. Best luck to you!
This is what my husband would say. If you have any of the Windows version, use them because many people he's come across have had problems with Vista. He tells people not to use Vista because the software sucks so bad. He tells them to use like Windows 98 and up. Forget Vista. And there is a way to get rid of Vista off your computer. I just can't remember.

Also John Gault talked about anti-virus stuff, don't listen to him. We downloaded a anti-virus called Avast and you can download the free software. You just have to provide your email address and you can get a 90 day free trial, then when that is up, you can get a whole yr of the Avast as long as you have the email address. It really works and you pay nothing. It is absolutly free. As long as you download the home edition, not the work edition.

What's up with IE encountering problems with an add-on and needing to close all the time?

The last three days I've been getting pop ups from Internet Explorer saying there's a problem with an add-on and needs to close. Then, of course, I get booted out of whatever I'm working on. Does anyone know what's going on? This isn't a "my computer" thing is it?

Nope this isn't ur PC.

It's basically a desing defficency in IE 6 and 7. Although Microsoft has released IE 7 it didn't address the major problems of not supporting (really it's IE System crash) for cirtian 3rd party add-ons or Div-X.

There's nothing you can do about this. But still you can try downloading the latest updates/security settings from Microsoft. But it won't resolve the problem entirely, only reduce the frequency of crashing.

The best thing to do is Download FireFox2. It's free and it's way more reliable than IE.

My default webbrowser is Mozilla FireFox2 and it works fine (even for the sites where IE crashes and refuses to open) I only use IE for microsoft specific contents, and only when they force it :D

go to view, text size, and change the font size.
its like this...identify the version of ie ur using...if its version 7 then there might be a problem with the zoom...the zoom is on the lower right of your comps screen...adjust and see the diff...if its an older version of ie then the upper answers are applicable...good luck trying

Because the freezing point of alcohols is much lower than that for water.

Each substance has different specific freezing and boiling temperature. Since most foods contain water, that is what freezes.

The freezing point of ethyl alcohol is -117.3oC, or -179,14F. Since vodka is only about 10% alcohol you wouldn't have to go that low to make it freeze (since it's a mixture of water and alcohol), but I'm pretty sure the average freezer would never get there anyway.

If you put the temperature down low enough, anything will freeze. The alcohol changes the point in which the liquid freezes. 32 degrees is when water freezes, and most things consist of a lot of water. Beer will freeze, because it doesn't have the alcohol content that booze has.

I am on car forums frequently and lately when there are posts with lots of pics (say 100) I open them and only 20 of the 100 pics load. I have to keep on refreshing until they all load... why is this? I don't think has happened before but it has lately been acting weird...

It might have to do with the server rather than your browser, but it could be simply the IE sucks. Try Firefox or Opera.
Try and increase your cache size for your browser. It is under Tools%26gt;%26gt; Internet Options. Either that or clear out your cache which is also in the same place.
Due to slow connection speed, or low memory available for Temporary internet files, or it may be due Virus.

I sell Very Nice Rings, I do not have a "STORE", just sell through ebay auctions. I am a "small - time" seller, with around 30 - 35 rings at a time for sale. It's been suggested that I use "advertising".....But, I have no idea what in the world people mean by this. What advertising, where does a person get this advertising, and just how in the world does this advertising work?

Please enlighten me,,,and please explain rather thoroughly...as I really don't understand this topic.

Advertising is the concept of telling other people, consumers, about your products. If people don't know your products are there, they probably won't go looking for them.

Advertising is a major tool in the business industry. For example, there are ads (advertisements) on T.V. Do you watch T.V.? If you do, then you most likely have seen some type of advertisement. Have you ever seen things like "Doller Menu at McDonald's"? McDonalds is trying to let people know about the great deals there, so that more people will come.

If you post advertisements, then more people will know about your high-quality rings, and more people will buy them.

I, for one, am enchanted by rings. But, I wouldn't know where to look for yours unless you posted an advertisement.

I'm not familiar with eBay, but perhaps you could contact the people in charge and ask about posting advertisements on the main page.
